Dash AI Review

This Dash AI Review starts with a caveat and a compliment: the dash-ai.com behind this listing is an open-source, local-first machine-learning workbench, and it is the only tool in this batch that harvests nothing.

Data Privacy Local-first by design — data never leaves the user's machine; no accounts, no keys. 9 / 10
Safety Architecture No cloud surface to breach; alpha-stage software honestly labelled. 7 / 10
Corporate Conduct Academic consortium with public funding; no commercial conflict. 7 / 10
Bias Mitigation No published bias evaluations of catalogue models — same gap as everyone. 5 / 10
Regulatory Alignment GDPR-favourable architecture; nothing to disclose because nothing is collected. 7 / 10

dashAI is a desktop application for training machine-learning models without writing code. It runs on local data with no cloud service, no external authentication and no API keys, and it is open-source on GitHub and PyPI at v0.9.3-alpha as of May 2026. Verified, from the project site and repository. Import data, train predictive and generative models, evaluate them, and inspect explainability, all on your own machine.

dashAI is a Chilean academic project maintained by a research network, led by the University of Chile’s engineering faculty and the national AI centre CENIA, with public ANID funding and no single company behind it. Verified. That funding model is the reason it can afford to keep your data on your own hardware rather than route it through a service.

This is alpha software for a technical user, not a polished commercial product, and it carries no affiliate programme because there is nothing to sell. On BrokenCtrl’s own terms that is closer to a recommendation than a mark against it.

KNIME — The mature open-source visual ML workbench — heavier, older, larger community.

Orange — Academic visual data-mining tool; the closest spiritual sibling.

Osum — The commercial contrast: instant answers, invisible sources, monthly bill.
